Workshop

Will Paralives allow custom content?

The honest answer for modders and CC creators: what works in Early Access today, what Steam Workshop covers, and where script mods stand.

Early Access verdict

Yes — partially. Steam Workshop is live for sharing builds, CC and Workshop objects. Script mods are not planned at the moment, per the official FAQ — treat any 'script mod support' claim as unconfirmed until the studio announces it.

What works in Early Access

You can browse, subscribe to and upload Workshop items from inside build mode — the Steam Workshop is the only channel the studio builds into the game. Color swatches and object variants you create can ship with a build upload. Beyond the official channel there is a live community scene: both CurseForge and Nexus Mods run dedicated Paralives sections with real creator uploads (CC and BepInEx script mods) that you install by copying files into your mods folder.

Custom content roadmap

  1. 1

Now — Steam Workshop objects & builds

Subscribe to community furniture, browse rooms before placing a whole house, upload your own builds with custom swatches.

  2. 2

    Post-EA — expanded modding tools

The studio has publicly discussed deeper mod support and script-level hooks. Watch the official roadmap and patch notes — we update this page when tools ship.

  3. 3

Not planned — script mods like The Sims

The official FAQ says script mods are not planned at the moment. Full script modding (gameplay overhauls, custom careers via code) is frequently requested but has no commitment — treat community speculation as rumour until the studio announces a build.

Custom content FAQ

Will Paralives allow custom content?
Yes. Steam Workshop is the official channel in Early Access for sharing builds and Workshop objects. Deeper CC pipelines are on the post-EA roadmap.
Will Paralives have script mods?
Not in the EA 1.0 build. The studio has signalled expanded modding tools after Early Access; no public release date yet.
Can you install Paralives mods from CurseForge or Nexus?
Yes — just without official integration. Both CurseForge and Nexus Mods have dedicated Paralives sections with real downloads, and their files install manually (copy them into your mods folder). These are community channels where creators publish directly, not mirrors of the Workshop. The in-game Steam Workshop remains the only officially supported, achievement-safe channel; third-party files are unsupported, so back up your save.
Does custom content break achievements?
Workshop objects from the in-game browser are official content. Console cheats are achievement-safe. Unofficial file injections are not supported and may behave unpredictably.
