Paralives system requirements

Minimum and recommended PC specs straight from the Steam store page, plus what Mac players need for Early Access. Cross-check before you buy or troubleshoot performance.

Windows PC specifications

The Windows specs below mirror the Steam store listing. macOS has its own requirements — Apple Silicon only; see the Mac section below.

macOS requirements

Paralives on Mac requires an Apple Silicon processor — Intel Macs are not supported. Steam lists macOS Big Sur 11 or newer with an Apple M2 and 12 GB RAM as the minimum, and an Apple M3 with 16 GB RAM as recommended. The build runs natively, no Rosetta involved.

Paralives on a low-end PC or laptop

Set expectations first. The official minimum is 12 GB RAM and a GTX 1060 / RX 6600 XT-class GPU, and the developers' own troubleshooting post says below-minimum-spec computers are “often times the reason for crashes”. Even above-spec PCs stutter in live mode right now — Paralives listed that as a known issue in patch 0.1.2 and promised more optimizations over the next few months. So the advice below is about getting the most out of borderline hardware, not a promise that below-minimum machines will run well.

Settings to lower first

The Steam store page's only official low-end guidance is, verbatim: “If your framerate is low, lower the display resolution and other graphic settings.” These are the graphics options the game actually exposes (per the wiki.gg Settings page), ordered by what players report lowering first:

  1. 1Lower the Screen Resolution first — this is the official advice and the single biggest lever. The in-game list tops out at 1920×1080; step down from your native resolution until the framerate stabilizes.
  2. 2Set Object Rendering Distance to Low (it runs Low → Very High) — the setting community reports mention lowering most often.
  3. 3Set Grass Rendering Distance to Low — the bottom of its Low → Max range.
  4. 4Drop Environment Texture Quality to Low, or Medium if your GPU has VRAM to spare (Low / Medium / High are the only steps).
  5. 5Cap the frame rate at 30 or 60. The Frame Rate Cap options are 30 / 60 / 144 / Unlimited, and a fixed cap rides out the live-mode stutter spikes better than an uncapped, swinging framerate.
  6. 6In build mode, turn Ceilings Cast Shadows off — one less thing to render while you build.
  7. 7If moving foliage distracts you at low settings, reduce Foliage Movement Intensity (0–200, under accessibility).

Community-reported tips

Not official — these come from player reports, so treat them as directional:

  • Melino's town center is the FPS hot spot. Two independent community reports — an RTX 3060 laptop dropping to roughly 25–28 FPS there, and a Steam Deck test showing the same pattern — both single it out. If the rest of town runs fine but the center crawls, it's the place, not your PC.
  • The Windows integrated-graphics trap: after a Windows update, dual-GPU laptops can silently run the game on the integrated GPU. If performance suddenly tanks, community threads point to Windows Settings → System → Display → Graphics, where you set Paralives to High performance.
  • On Mac, community reports say a MacBook Air M1 with 8 GB RAM is playable on Low settings with a lowered resolution — but reports are mixed, and 8 GB is below the 12 GB official Mac floor.
  • Borderline below-spec hardware: one community report has a Celeron N5095 laptop with Intel UHD graphics running the game, but laggy. Treat anything below the GTX 1060 floor as a gamble.

What nobody has verified yet

  • Whether Paralives runs acceptably on an 8 GB RAM Windows machine — no credible report exists, and the official floor is 12 GB. We won't guess below it.
  • Whether the settings menu has quality presets — community videos mention them, but the wiki.gg Settings page documents only individual sliders. Treat presets as unconfirmed.
  • The per-setting FPS impact — nobody has measured how much each graphics option actually gains, so the order above reflects community practice, not benchmarks.
  • Whether the 3 GB GTX 1060 holds up versus the 6 GB model — untested as far as we can find.

System requirements FAQ

What are the Paralives system requirements?
Minimum (per Steam): Windows 10, Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 @ 2.5 GHz, 12 GB RAM, GTX 1060 or RX 6600 XT, and 8 GB storage. Recommended: Windows 11, the same CPU class @ 3.0 GHz, 16 GB RAM and an RTX 2060 or RX 7600 XT.
Can Paralives run on Mac?
Yes — on Apple Silicon only. Steam lists macOS Big Sur 11+, an Apple M2 minimum and an M3 recommended, with 12–16 GB RAM. Intel Macs are not supported.
Does Paralives run on Steam Deck?
Valve rates Paralives Unsupported on Steam Deck because of graphics performance. It is still playable via Proton with the settings we tested on our Steam Deck page — just don't expect a supported experience. Check the Steam store page for the current badge.
Will Paralives come to console?
Per the official FAQ, there are no console plans at the moment — the studio is considering it for the future. Our platforms page tracks PS5, Xbox, Switch, Steam Deck and controller support in detail.
Can Paralives run on a low-end PC?
The official minimum is 12 GB RAM and a GTX 1060 / RX 6600 XT-class GPU, and the developers say below-minimum-spec computers are often the reason for crashes. Even above-spec PCs currently stutter in live mode — a known issue the team has promised to optimize over the coming months. Community reports say borderline hardware (older Celeron laptops, an 8 GB MacBook Air M1) can run the game on Low settings with a reduced resolution, but results are mixed. Below the official minimum, treat it as a gamble.
