The short version
There is no official online multiplayer or shared world. Builds share through Workshop. For couch co-op, community mod ParaSplit (Nexus) enables local splitscreen — typically F9 to activate and F11 to exit — so two players control different Paras in one household on one PC.

How Paralives Multiplayer Works (Official + ParaSplit)

Know the official status
Paralives Studio ships a single-player offline life sim. Live sessions, shared Melino servers and online co-op are not part of Early Access. Workshop lets you share builds and custom content; it does not host multiplayer lobbies.

Decide if local co-op is enough
ParaSplit-style mods target two players on the same machine with a split screen and separate cameras/cursors. You stay on one lot and one household. If you need remote play with a friend in another city, that is not what these mods provide.

Install carefully
Prefer the mod author's current Nexus or Workshop page. Back up your save folder first. Follow the same safe install path as other code mods — see our install-mods guide for the folder layout — and only enable one multiplayer mod at a time so conflicts are obvious.

Activate splitscreen in-game
With ParaSplit enabled, start a household, then use the mod's hotkeys (commonly F9 to enter splitscreen and F11 to exit). Connect a second controller if the build expects one. Give each player a Para and keep the camera fights friendly.

Respect the limits
Expect WIP bugs: UI focus, menus fighting for input, and patch breaks after every game update. Disable the mod before reporting official bugs to Paralives Studio, and never run unknown .dll mods from random reupload sites.

Headlines about multiplayer almost always mean local splitscreen mods, not official netcode.
Skipping backups
Code mods can break saves after patches. Copy your save folder before every multiplayer experiment.
Mixing half a dozen script mods
Stacking UI and gameplay injectors with ParaSplit makes crashes undiagnosable. Bisect mods when something fails.

- Does Paralives have multiplayer?
- Officially, no online multiplayer. The game is single-player and offline. Community mods can add local splitscreen co-op on one PC.
- What is ParaSplit?
- A fan mod (listed on Nexus Mods) that enables local splitscreen so two players can control different Paras in the same household. Hotkeys commonly include F9 to activate and F11 to exit.
- Can I play online with a friend remotely?
- Not through official features, and not through ParaSplit's local splitscreen design. Remote play would require other tools outside the game's supported setup.

- Treat anything beyond the Studio's published roadmap as unconfirmed. Today you should plan around single-player plus Workshop sharing.
- Is using ParaSplit safe for achievements?
- Script mods can change game state. If you care about a clean vanilla save, keep a separate modded save and disable multiplayer mods before official bug reports.
- Where do I install the mod?
- Follow the author's page and our Workshop install guide for the correct mods folder. Do not drop random archives into the game root.
