The short version
Open photo mode with the camera icon at the top of the screen or by pressing P (you can rebind it). Press C to enter free camera and move the view, hide the interface with Ctrl+H, then press F to capture. Photos are saved to a folder named ParalivesPhotoMode on your desktop. There's no in-game setting to change that path yet — use a symbolic link if you need it elsewhere. Steam's own screenshot key saves to Steam's folder instead.
How to Use Photo Mode and Find Screenshots in Paralives
- 1
Open photo mode
Click the camera icon at the top of the screen, or press P. If P doesn't work or you'd prefer another key, you can rebind the photo-mode shortcut in the controls settings. Photo mode pauses the action so you can frame the shot calmly.
- 2
Move the camera
Inside photo mode, press C to switch into free camera control, then move and orbit the view to compose the shot. Pulling the camera lower or slightly off-centre usually gives a stronger composition than a flat, straight-on angle.
- 3
Hide the interface
Press Ctrl+H to remove the UI before capturing — this matters most for portraits, build showcases and cinematic scenes where menus would distract. Ctrl+H also works in normal live mode, so you can grab clean candid shots without even opening photo mode.
- 4
Take the shot
When the frame looks right, press F to capture. If it's close but not perfect, go back to camera control (C), nudge the framing and shoot again rather than settling. There's no cap on how many shots you take beyond your disk space.
- 5
Find your screenshots
By default, photo-mode images are saved to a folder named ParalivesPhotoMode on your desktop. There's currently no in-game option to change that location, so if you want them elsewhere, point a symbolic link at the folder. If you used Steam's built-in screenshot key instead, open Steam, select Paralives in your library and use the Screenshot Manager to find them on disk.
Common photo-mode mistakes
Hunting for screenshots in AppData
Photo-mode shots go to the ParalivesPhotoMode folder on your desktop, not the game's AppData folder.
Leaving the UI on
Press Ctrl+H to hide the interface before pressing F, or menus and panels end up in your shot.
Confusing Steam screenshots with photo mode
Steam's screenshot key saves to Steam's own folder. Use the in-game F capture for the ParalivesPhotoMode folder.
