Paralives walls — fix, connect & paint

Walls are where most Paralives builds break: the 'Can't build wall with different heights' error, a 'wall too short' message that won't go away, or walls that simply won't connect into a room. Almost all of it traces back to one known Early Access quirk. This guide fixes connection problems first, then covers wall height, visibility and paint.

The short version

The 'Can't build wall with different heights' error is a known bug — hold Shift to draw walls continuously and they connect without it. Build on flat terrain and keep floors at the same height. Turn the grid off (G) and hold Alt to snap walls to existing ones. Use Home / End to cycle wall visibility.

How to Build and Fix Walls in Paralives

  1. 1

Fix 'walls won't connect' / different heights

The 'Can't build wall with different heights' warning is a confirmed Early Access bug. The reliable workaround is to hold Shift while drawing so walls are placed continuously in one motion — the game can't get confused about height. Build on a flattened lot and keep adjacent floors at the same elevation.

  2. 2

Fix 'wall too short' on upper floors

On second or third floors a 'wall too low / too short' message usually means the new wall is basing its height on the terrain instead of the floor below. Start the new wall from an existing wall on that floor so it inherits the correct height, or build the upper walls directly on top of the walls below.

  3. 3

    Snap walls without the grid

Paralives is built for gridless building. If walls won't line up with a pre-built house, press G to turn the grid off, start placing the wall so it snaps to the existing one, then hold Alt for free placement when the snap bugs out.

  4. 4

    Control wall height and thickness

Select a wall to adjust its height with the arrow handle; set the height before connecting the room so every segment matches. Wall thickness and wallpaper/paint are applied per wall or per room from the catalog after the room is enclosed.

  5. 5

Use wall visibility (Home / End)

Press Home to raise wall visibility (walls show fully) and End to lower it (walls drop down or hide). Press repeatedly to cycle full, half and hidden. Visibility is per floor, so use Page Up / Page Down to confirm you're on the right level. On laptops you may need Fn + Home/End.

Common wall mistakes

Pitfall 1

Drawing walls segment by segment

Placing each wall separately triggers the 'different heights' error. Hold Shift and draw the whole outline in one continuous motion.

Pitfall 2

Building on uneven terrain

Sloped ground makes walls report different heights. Flatten the lot with the terrain tool before drawing.

Pitfall 3

Fighting the grid on pre-built homes

Downloaded houses are often built off-grid. Turn the grid off (G) and hold Alt so new walls snap to the existing ones.

Paralives walls FAQ

Why do my Paralives walls say 'different heights'?
It's a known Early Access bug. Hold Shift while drawing so the walls are placed continuously in one motion, build on flattened terrain, and keep adjacent floors at the same elevation.
Why won't my walls connect in Paralives?
Usually a height mismatch or grid conflict. Hold Shift to draw continuously, or turn the grid off with G and hold Alt to snap to existing walls.
How do you hide walls in Paralives?
Press Home to make walls more visible and End to lower or hide them. Press repeatedly to cycle through full, half and hidden states; it works per floor.
